This is a Bluegrass Band with a difference - a big difference! One might say that they play "Alternative Bluegrass" - bluegrass with a whacky slant. Based in Helsby, Cheshire, the band consists of Bryn Williams (vocals, fiddle, guitar, banjo) and sons Stuart Williams (banjo, guitar, fiddle) and Russell Williams (vocals, mandolin, bass).
Though they do some 'serious' stuff, their forte is comedy numbers with a bluegrass bias. These include parodies on existing songs, grassed-up versions of pop songs (e.g. The Ace Of Spades) and lots of songs, often with a local bias (such as 'God's From Widnes'), written by Daddy Plank Bryn. Bryn is a powerful influence on the Bluegrass scene in our area and organises a lot of Bluegrass picking days and other functions such a Bluegrass Barge trips featuring American bands. The band plays in schools as part of it's 'Let's Popularise Bluegrass' mission. Stuart and Russell also form part of related bands Baker's Fabulous Boys and The Southgators.
