| I get the impression that I've rarely seen Alison
Brown smile, but lately I've managed to get some nice photos with her beaming!
Perhaps she saves them up? But I really do like this picture - hope she does
too!
Maybe not smiling is a characteristic of banjo pickers?
The Slim's Party Night Jam Session Concert is actually co-ordinated to ensure that there's always someone onstage doing something. For the last couple of years Laurie Lewis has done the job and very well too - this year especially. She kept a really smooth flow going. Well done, Laurie! |

The band just kept on playing with hardly a break...
...only the personnel changed from time to time...

Darel Anger and Laurie Lewis are great contributors
- they take part in everything! Darel in particlular doesn't miss a chance
to play - it doesn't seem to matter who with! He's another Casey
Driesen.
Here they're in their psychedelic mode (maybe they've spent too much time up Haight-Ashbury?) See the photo below left for a more mellow take. |
| The Party Night is excellent because of its
organisation and attractions, not least of which is the open bar, so generously
provided by our host Warren Hellman. But no bar would be any good without
an excellent staff and here we have a lovely YL (er, young lady) who served
us.
I told her I would make her famous! |

So here are Darel and Laurie, clowning about again! All I said was, "Give me a nice pose," and they just did it without thinking - and it was for real - they actually played! |
We put a lot of work into noting, photographing and writing these reports but never appear in them. So this time I've decided to rectify that. Here are some pix featuring us having a good time at Slim's. |

It must be hard being Warren. Everyone wants to say "thanks" and he doesn't mind, so long as people know what they're thanking him for. He manages to be left alone most of the time to appreciate the music. Now and again he gets nailed - here by Jean and Jordan! |
| Jean and I live in Chester, England, but our
daughter Pam (AKA Belle Monroe) lives and works in San Francisco, so we don't
see too much of each other. So you can imagine how happy Jean is to be in
a position to have photos like this taken!
We also live in the south of France - click for photos |

Left is one of Pam's idols, Nick Forster, playing
guitar this time instead of the usual bass with Hot Rize. Not surprisingly,
this is Pam's photo.
Even though the food and drinks are ''free', every one is 'rung up' at the regular price and it's Warren who pays the tab. People seem to respect this and I'm happy to say that I've never seen anyone drunk or otherwise abusing the privilege. |
