First off I am continuing to wind down the website, not so as to close it down but just to give myself less work. It's very time consuming running a thing like this properly (I know - I used to do it!) but now Jean and I need to devote more time to ourselves. Having said that, I still welcome your articles and reviews (with photos, if possible) and news items of general interest. You'll probably have noticed that now we write a lot of the articles and that most of them involve San Francisco and the Bay Area. That's for the simple reason that we spend a lot of time there visiting our daughter ('Belle Monroe'), playing gigs, going to gigs and generally enjoying ourselves (well, wouldn't you?) The outcome of this is that this NWBN website is gradually becoming a 'Blog' site (at least I think that's the word!). However it will still be valuable for all the good articles and references in the archives and the great tabs, which are discussed in detail. Jean and I still enjoy doing it and one of the reasons is for the great fun and pleasure of being able to link things to other relevant articles. Another is that it's nice getting all the positive feedback (though this time I'm expecting some flack). And it's nice to have a voice. As part of the 'wind down' I resigned my job as webmaster for the British Bluegrass Music Association last November and didn't stand in March for re-election to the Committee. That frees up a lot of time and reduces stress considerably. Now I am free to say what I like and tell things as they are... Another reason for slowing down the NWBN is that we are running out of web space - there are only 1.3 megabytes left. "They can't do much with that!" I hear you thinking. Well, you'd be surprised. Can you believe that we have only 15 megabytes allowed on this totally free service and that all of the website is in only 13.7 megs? So there you have it. Hope you continue to enjoy the site and send your articles. We'll publish anything that we think is of general interest or very important, but not things like someone's gigs list or non-European festival details. Articles are best when already well-written, but other articles are welcome provided you're prepared to let me give them 'Editorial polish' (which sometimes means almost completely re-writing them...)
