Signs of the Bluegrass Times?

Mike Hall - NWBN Correspondent and Chairman of the Northern California Bluegrass Society, has discovered an amazing trend in the popularity of Bluegrass Events in his area. Over the lifetime of the Society the booking etiquette for reserving weekends for events has changed considerably. The following are the notifications and requests that have appeared in the last 21-years in the Society's magazines..

I think it's very interesting - I hope you find it interesting too! Ed.

1982 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling a bluegrass event the same month as another bluegrass event.

1988 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling a bluegrass event the same week as another bluegrass event.

1992 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling a bluegrass event the same day as another bluegrass event.

1997 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling more than 2 bluegrass events the same day.

1999 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling more than 3 bluegrass events on the same day.

2000 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling more than 4 bluegrass events on the same day.

2001 - The rapidly-expanding selection of local events makes the event total irrelevant; if possible, try to avoid scheduling a bluegrass event of the same type (jam, concert, festival) at the same time on the same day as a bluegrass event of that type.

2002 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling an NCBS bluegrass event at the same time on the same day as another NCBS bluegrass event.

2003 - If possible, try to avoid scheduling an NCBS bluegrass event of the same type at the same time on the same day as another NCBS bluegrass event of that type.

Mike ads "We hope this problem continues to get much, much worse in 2004!"
