Congratulations to the Lonesome River Band, who now hold the #1 album (Window of Time) on January’s Bluegrass Unlimited Top 15 Bluegrass Albums chart! “Down the Line” is currently #13 on the Bluegrass Unlimited singles chart and “Tune of a Twenty Dollar Bill” recently debuted on the singles chart at #20. The song “Rounder’s Spirit” (which was written by LRB guitarist Brandon Rickman) appears on both the Special Consensus’s album Route 10 and LRB’s Window of Time, and is currently #27 on the charts.

Marty Raybon recently performed on the CCMA (Christian Country Music Association) Awards Show on November 5 held in Nashville, TN. Marty performed Dottie Rambo’s composition of “If That Isn’t Love” along with Anthony Burger, Stella Parton and Dottie Rambo. The 2002 CCMA Awards Show will air on ETC on PAX tv Dec. 28, 1-3 a.m. EST.
Marty recently conducted a television interview and performance (in which he talked about his new Doobie Shea release Full Circle due in stores March 11) and performed two songs on the 700 Club.

Marty was also recently a part of the filming for the Bill Gaither Bluegrass Gathering which was filmed at Fisk University’s Memorial Chapel in Nashville, TN. The special will be airing some time next year, and we will keep you posted as more details are confirmed. Other Doobie Shea artists included on the taping were Rickie Simpkins and Mountain Heart.

Upcoming features on Marty Raybon include a February cover story in Bluegrass Now and a feature in Country Music Magazine for March.


Mountain Heart’s Doobie Shea release, The Journey (DS-3004) won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s award for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. "I was very humbled and honored to be part of Mountain Heart's Journey project and was overwhelmed when it won," says its co-producer, Doobie Shea Records President Tim Austin. “It’s a great thing to have both the fans (and the industry) vote for music you personally are very proud to have been a part of. I feel blessed to have been involved with the project and will never forget the great time we had making it happen.” Mountain Heart enjoyed the highest weekly soundscan sales of their career, when they recently debuted on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart at #11.
Look for Dan Tyminski to begin work on a new Doobie Shea solo project in 2003.

Dan Tyminski, who performs as a part of Alison Krauss and Union Station, took home the Male Vocalist of the Year award for the second year in a row. Dan Tyminski also won an award for his participation on the 2002 Bluegrass Album of the Year, Down >From the Mountain on Lost Highway Records. The Down from the Mountain Tour also won the Bluegrass Event of the Year.


AKUS CMA Nominations & Performance
Alison Krauss and Union Station performed “The Lucky One” on the recent CMA Awards. Congratulations to Alison Krauss and Union Station for their CMA nominations including Album of the Year for New Favorite, Female Vocalist for Alison Krauss, Alison Krauss & Gillian Welch for Vocal Event for “I’ll Fly Away”, and Dan Tyminski for song of the year for “Man of Constant Sorrow.”

The new project from AKUS is entitled Live (Rounder Records.) It is a double cd set recorded at the Louisville Palace in April of this year and was available in stores on November 5.


Rickie’s album Don’t Fret It (DS 2006) continues to have success on the National Bluegrass Survey.“Mountain High, Feelin’ Low” is currently #11 on the singles chart.

Though Rickie is no longer performing with The Isaacs, he has been busy freelancing with groups including The Bill Gaither Vocal Band & The Tony Rice Unit. Rickie recently traveled to Australia with the Bill Gaither Vocal Band for a taping of the Bill Gaither homecoming filmed at the Sydney Opera House.
