Doobie Shea Artists Win at IBMA Awards

Doobie Shea Records is honored to announce that a number of our artist went home award winners from the 13th Annual International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards, held October 17th at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Ky.

Dan Tyminski, who performs as a part of Alison Krauss and Union Station, took home the Male Vocalist of the Year award for the 2nd year in a row. Dan Tyminski also won an award for his participation on the 2002 Bluegrass Album of the Year, Down from the Mountain on Lost Highway Records. The Down from the Mountain Tour also won the Bluegrass Event of the Year. The new project from AKUS entitled Live (Rounder) a double cd set recorded at the Louisville Palace in April of the year will be in stores on November 5th. Their current release, New Favorite (Rounder) is currently #4 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts for the week of October 19th.


Mountain Heart's Doobie Shea release, The Journey (DS-3004) won the award for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. "I was very humbled and honored to be part of Mountain Heart's Journey project and was overwhelmed when it won," says its producer, Doobie Shea Records president Tim Austin. "It's a great thing to have both the fans (and the industry) vote for music you personally are very proud to have been a part of. I feel blessed to have been involved with the project and will never forget the great time we had making it happen." Mountain Heart enjoyed the highest weekly soundscan sales of their career, when they recently debuted on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart at #11.
Congratulations also goes out to Tom Adams and Michael Cleveland of Dale Ann Bradley & Coon Creek who won Banjo Player of the Year & Fiddle Player of the Year respectively. 2002 marks Michael Cleveland's 2nd Year as the IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year.

Many of you got to meet Marty during trade show week at IBMA, and saw him on the Awards Show as a presenter. Dan Tyminski to perform on "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series

Dan Tyminski will be performing "Man of Constant Sorrow" on ABC's "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series on Friday, June 28th. Dan will be performing, along with other members of the "Down from the Mountain" tour, between 8:30-9:00 am EST. Also featured on the show will be fellow Grammy winner Alecia Keys. The Concert series is held in New York City's historic Bryant Park, in the heart of New York City, alongside the program's famed Times Square studio. Viewers interested in attending a free live performance should arrive by 6:45 a.m. Bryant Park is located behind the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets and 5th and Sixth Avenues. ABC News "Good Morning America" is a two hour live program co-anchored by Charles Gibson and Diane Sawyer, airing Monday-Thursday (7:00-9:00 a.m. ET), on the ABC Television Network.


Ernie Thacker to sing at Busch Series Race on July 5th

We are extremely excited to announce that Ernie Thacker will be singing the National Anthem at the 2002 Busch Series Stacker 2 / GNC Live well 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. The race will be covered by FOX, with live coverage beginning at 7:00 PM, EST on July 5th. Ernie's new release "The Chill of Lonesome" is currently receiving rave reviews from both radio and fans alike.


Lonesome River Band to perform on CMT's Most Wanted Live July 5th

The Lonesome River Band will be appearing on CMT's "Most Wanted Live" on July 5th. "Most Wanted Live" is filmed in front of a live audience at the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase at Opry Mills, Nashville and airs between 6:00 and 7:00 PM, CST. LRB will be performing one of the new songs off their upcoming Doobie Shea release, Window of Time entitled "Down the Line" written by Wayne Winkle and Craig Market. The band will also be performing that evening on the Grand Ole Opry.
