Radim Zenkl with Tony Trischka
in San Francisco

Words & Photos by Ted Silverman

Saw an incredible show - Radim Zenkl with Tony Trischka.  There were two workshop-style sets - one from each player - followed by an incendiary set of shredding bluegrass tunes including Salt Creek, Foggy Mtn. Special, Moonlight Waltz, Old Joe Clark, Arkansas Travler, Sally Goodin, St, Anne's Reel,

Whiskey Before Breakfast and more.

The encore was EMD and followed by a curtain call of Red Haired Boy.

Trischka can wail - but Radim redeemed. He really showed, more than ever how mulit-talented he is as his solo set was quirky and wonderful while his duet work with Tony was way up there, and at times, beyond Thile, Grisman, Bush, McCoury, Marshall and all the others.

The greatest thing about this show was that it was the first time EVER that these two had performed publically together.
