Here we remember some of those lost to the British Bluegrass family over the past decade. There is one important American exception without whom our bluegrass family - and with it the opportunity for us to come into contact with these fine people - would not exist.

4th September - Robert 'Charlie' Gaisford, banjo picker.

1993
18th August - Jan Jerrold, British Bluegrass champion/organiser and pioneer.

1994
22nd August - Neil Bullock, banjo picker.

1996
September - Bill Monroe, the creator and Father of Bluegrass Music.

1997
23rd January - Wally Whyton, broadcaster, country picker and long time friend of bluegrass music.

1998
21st July - Andy Townend, mandolin picker.

1999
28th September - Dave Nicholson, bass player.

2000
6th April - Mike Hibbs, bass player.
10th May - Ray Stewart, banjo picker.
29th July - Len Davies, Edale's 'Mr Bones'.
