A CD Launch & Charity Day: by Laurie Lewis

How Others See Us!
The Lonesome River Band Fan Club Newsletter

I received a copy of the Fall 2000 issue of River Currents - the Lonesome River Band Fan Club Newsletter - and I am delighted to report what Caroline Morris (the LRB N/L Editor) said about us - ED.

Bluegrass In Other Countries:

"A highly-compelling article on the LRB, was featured in the (Sept 2000) edition of the Magazine, (www.nwbn.freeserve.co.uk). The NWBN magazine, is an online magazine source, fabricated in the United Kingdom, by a very cultivated and devoted group of bluegrass enthusiasts.

"Their well-written article focused around the LRB's trip to Switzerland, England and France, back in July and is very inspiring, both to the LRB and bluegrass music in general! The contributing journalists, photographers and editors each contributed their own writing variations and personal insight aboutthe LRB's performances, in a very refreshing approach... (...NWBN excerpt snipped out...)

"Upon having the article on the LRB brought to my attention, I fully realized the abundance of bluegrass music and bluegrass music establishments that arein the UK and beyond. I always knew that there was a big "love" and high demand for bluegrass there, but I never fully realized too what enormous extents, until then. Browsing through their websites, reading different articles, and etc....really put a satisfying and content feeling within me; knowing that bluegrass music is expanding with each passing day.

"The NWBN magazine offers a variety of bluegrass-music related information to their readers, such as; many other informative, and interesting articles, tablature, itineraries of various shows throughout the UK, and links to other bluegrass sites, such as the: British Bluegrass Music Association. The BBMA also serves a very integral part in the development and preservation of Bluegrass Music in the UK and surrounding areas.

"I, personally, would like to congratulate and thank the NWBN, BBMA, and all the other wonderful organizations, on the wonderful work that they do to help further the existence of bluegrass music!!"

A CD Launch & Charity Day: by Laurie Lewis

On Sunday, October 8, I played at Audubon Canyon Ranch, just north of Stinson Beach, CA, with my compadres Tom Rozum and Nina Gerber. Audubon Canyon Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary encompassing the shores of Bolinas Lagoon and surrounding canyons, where Great Blue Herons and Egrets nest in the treetops. The Ranch gives guided tours, and has special educational programs for inner-city children, as well as providing refuge for a great number of birds and other wildlife.

The purpose of the celebration was to give thanks to the neighbors and to raise funds for the center. In addition, I used the event to announce my latest project, a compilation of my many bird-related songs. The CD, Birdsong, will be a benefit for the Ranch, and we hope it'll be out sometime in the spring. More on that later...

The event started at 11:30 a.m., with nature activities and hiking. Tom, Nina, and I played from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Anyway, Audubon Canyon Ranch is a most beautiful place to visit. The address is 4900 Highway One, Stinson Beach, CA.
