The Hubble deep space field photo

On average the Universe looks the same in every direction.
This photo is The Hubble Deep-Space Field showing just a few of  the
billions of galaxies in the universe. There are several types of galaxy.
Our galaxy is a spiral one, like the one indicated by the arrow.
Why are there so many galaxies? Where did they all come from?
Where are they all going?
 These galaxies are so distant that their images represent a point
in time only 10,000,000,000 years from the start of the Universe!
