  1. Changes to the Rules may only be made at meetings held at Café Chabot, Aiguèze, Département du Gard, France. | Photo 1 | Photo 2 |
  2. The Official Drink is Vin Rosé bien frais, supplied by an approved Aiguèze village producer.
  3. The Annual General Meeting will be held during July while The President is present.
  4. Tenure: Full Membership shall be open to any non-resident aged 40 years or more who has vacationed at Aiguèze for a minimum of 7 years without interruption but who is not a resident in the area who is crazy and is unreservedly sympathetic to the ethos of the ACU and take its' crazy ideals seriously.
  5. Elections of Officials will be done informally at the AGM.  New members will be required to make an acceptance speech and buy 1 litre of  the Official Drink.
  6. Meetings shall be held whenever more than two members meet anywhere.
  7. Formal Meetings in Aiguèze shall be opened with a salute to the Official Statue in the Fountain at Aiguèze.
  8. The Official Language is French.
  9. Foto: The Official Symbol of the ACU is the spinning top (or, more correctly Gödel Top) (photo, right) bearing the insignia ACU on its upper surface and the word Aiguèze beneath (see photo on right)
  10. The Normal Official Chant is the phrase "A - C - U" proclaimed loudly in the Official Language, accompanied by three strong thumps on the table with the fist; the whole to be repeated three times.
  11. The Ceremonial Salute is as follows: All members raise a glass of the Official Drink to the statue (St.Roche) and perform the Official Chant 3 times followed by the cry St.Roche! All members then dip their left index finger into the water of the fountain (demonstration)
  12. When a meeting occurs the Official Chant shall be performed and the Official Gödel Tops shall be spun.
  13. The Official Game is Jeux des Boules
  14. The Official Mascot is Robert de Traxel's Great Dane dog which frequents the Place at Aiguèze.
  15. The Official Song (or Anthem) is "Aiguèze" (AKA "The Chabot Menu")

Les Régelments pour les Grades de l’Association (A.C.U.)

Membre Normale: Une grade de membres de l’association pour les personnes qui auraient rempli les conditions d’adhérence, c’est a dire: ayant au minimum 7 ans de participation et avoir atteint l’age de 40 ans au plus.

Membre Associate: Une grade de membres de l’association pour les personnes qui n’auraient pas rempli les conditions d’adhérence normale, mais qui auraient apporte une aide et unesupport réel et exceptionale a l’A.C.U.

Membre Apprentis: Une grade de membres de l’association pour les personnes qui n’auraient pas rempli les conditions d’adhérence normale auAssociate, mais qui la Committee pensent auraient apporte une aide et une support generalment a l’A.C.U.

Partner Member: (AGM 2007): Une grade de membres de l’association pour les épouses ou partenaires ou également des membres.

Conditions générale de membres:
Ce'st absolument obligatoire toutes membres sont fou.


Amendments to the Constitution adopted at the AGM July 1998
  1. New Grade of Membership The grade of Associate Member was adopted to accommodate prospective members who do not fulfil the age and residence requirements (see 4 above) but who have given considerable help and/or support to the Association and/or provided incontrivertible proof for or significantly extended/developed the ACU Theory of The Universe and are not normally resident in the area. And are crazy.
  2. The Official Uniform, designed by Mme La Secretaire, was adopted (see below). It consists of a white T-shirt with theUniverse symbol an the rear (signifying the Gödel Universe symbolised as a Spinning Top) and the Shaking dog symbol on the left breast and (for the gentlemen members) a Baseball Cap showing  theShaking dog symbol (i.e., the Official Mascot drying himself after bathing in the Official Fountain: photo).

New Grade of Membership The grade of Apprentice Member (Membre Apprenti) was adopted to accommodate people who do not fulfil the requirements of Normal or Associate membership but who the Committee decides is sufficiently crazy and sympathetic to the Aims and Objectives of the ACU.


Amendments to the Constitution adopted at the AGM July 2000

The Official ACU Hymn (or Anthem): It was proposed by Theo Wenter that the ACU must have an Anthem or Hymn. The meeting voted unanimously in favour of Theo's suggestion that the Official Anthem be the Evening Menu at the Café Chabot at Aigèze sung to the tune of Amen. Click for the words.


Amendments to the Constitution adopted at the AGM July 2003
  • Upgrading of Membership: Any Membre Apprentis or Associate Member who attends three Annual General Meetings and buys a litre of vin rosé each time can be promoted to Full Member Status.
  • New Committee Position The position of Representative for the Southern Hemisphere was introduced.
  • The instigation of an Official Banner was approved.
  • An Official Presidential motto was adopted:
    Carpe Vinum ("Sieze the Wine")
  • An Official Association motto was adopted:
    Semper imbibum vinum, sed aliquot variat!
    (Always drinking wine, only the amount changes!)

Upgrading of Membership (modification of 2003 resolution):
Any Membre Apprentis or Associate Member living outside of Europe who attends two Annual General Meetings and buys a litre of vin rosé each time can be promoted to Full Member Status.

New grade of membership: Partner Membership:
The husband, wife or equivalent partner of a member may apply for Partner Membership at an AGM after buying a litre of the Official Drink, or in writing at any other time on receipt by the Tresurer of sufficient funds to buy 3 litres of the Official Drink. Partner Members will have no voting rights but will nonetheless be required to consume the Official Drink in quantities matching those of other members.
